RIPPLE stool / side-table

RIPPLE
stool / side-table

Overflow is a phenomenon of water flowing and swaying within a container, capturing the perfect moment. RIPPLE incorporates the common Taiwanese metal building material, "perforated sheet," as the main element, combined with curved solid wood seat and base. It breaks the stereotype of perforated sheets being used as shelves or dividers in metal furniture and extends it into a whole new furniture typology, creating new possibilities in furniture design. The stool and table feature a solid structure surrounded by perforated metal sheets, creating storage space. Even without any items placed inside, it can be an interesting addition to the home.

Through the careful selection of the size and spacing of the perforations on the metal sheets, a dynamic moiré effect is created when viewed from the side, resembling the interweaving patterns of craftsmanship. With the movement of the line of sight, the perforations intertwine like ripples on the water's surface, constantly cycling and adding a sense of dynamism to the space.

The design of the solid wood seat references the moment of water swaying in a container, with a soft texture and extended curvature that fits the human body, creating a comfortable seating experience. The visual interplay between the metal perforations and the flowing lines echoes each other, while the solid wood breaks free from a heavy feeling, giving RIPPLE a sense of lightness, transparency, and tranquility. RIPPLE stool and side table consist of only three components and can be quickly assembled, offering multi-level functionality and experiences. It is not just furniture but also an artwork that can be personalized through human use. The transparent barrel body can seamlessly blend into different spatial aesthetics, adding various forms of amusement.
